Guest Author Interview - Megan Cashman

In today's guest author interview we meet Megan Cashman:

Please introduce yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Megan Cashman. I'm a freelance journalist from Staten Island, NY.

What first inspired you to start writing?
I've been writing since I was a kid. One of my elementary school teachers encouraged me to write and to think I could one say write a book. What really got me to seriously write, and eventually self-publish, was when I was unemployed and I felt it was a good time to get a book out. I wasn't expecting to hit the jackpot, but it was like a "now or never" type of thing. Besides, I had a the free time to write.

Are you a planner? Or do you prefer do dive straight into writing?
I take notes on what could and should happen with an idea I have, but mostly I'm a pantser. I may write freely, but I have my notes in mind.

Who is your favourite author and why?
Oh boy, this is tough question. Maybe Khaled Hosseini, the author of The Kite Runner. He really sucks you into his work the minute you start reading. Also, I'm excited about his long awaited upcoming novel, due out in May!

What do you enjoy most about writing?
I love how new ideas spring to mind out of nowhere, the excitement I get when I know I'm writing a good or important scene. I also love developing my characters and getting into their heads and hearts.

And the least?
The doubt. It can be agonizing when you're not sure if what you wrote was good enough.

What advice would you give new and aspiring authors?
Don't give up, keep an open mind, read a lot, research a lot, and don't let writing determine your self-worth. There's more to you besides being a writer :-)

What are you working on at the moment?
I'm writing the second installment to my trilogy, The End of Eternity. So far, the working title is Blood Ties, but that may change.

Tell us about your latest work and how we can find out more.
It's called The Dark Proposal, which is the first installment of a vampire trilogy called The End of Eternity. It is about college graduate Claire McCormick who's boyfriend turns out to be a murderous vampire who wants her to be one too, and won't take no for an answer.

The book has recently been re-edited and re-published. If you have already purchased the book then you can redownload it, otherwise you can purchase it from the links below:
