Book Impressions - Terminus X by Shane Ward

This is a sci-fi short story about two men who enter a high tech and illegal race desperate for the money. This is set against the back-drop of a war between two great factions.

For me the big problem was the length, I love short stories, but this is a short story forming a serial, which is fine, but you don't get any closure for this story, you have to read the next. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against seriels, but each part should have a self contained story. In this case everything is focused on the race and for the story to just stop as the race gets going is a bit off putting.

Which is a shame because I was really enjoying it up until that point. The story is fun, it's well written in a relaxed style that makes it a joy to read. It offers interesting flashes of the wiser world, a world I would be happy to learn more about.

A mixed bag, worth reading, but prepared to have to buy the next short and the next. Or maybe wait until they are all collated into a single collection.
