Please introduce yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Gregory Napier. I currently work in the IT field but am hoping to change my career in the near future to a full time novelist. Here's to those coffee-fueled late nights paying off.
What first inspired you to start writing?
I've been writing for fun since grade school, but the expansion from a simple hobby to an aspiring career came after college. I learned that writing gave me a purpose beyond my collegiate-destined career would ever allow. I began making the switch.
Do you read the same genre that you write in?
I write sci-fi and fantasy because I find that those allow me the most creative freedom. I enjoy creating new worlds, new rules, and new creations - whatever they happen to be. Likewise, I read those genres as well, but I do tend to read beyond just that scope. I enjoy thrillers and horrors, as well.
Where did the idea for 'Afflicted Dawn' come from?
I wanted to make a video game, but ultimately didn't have the necessary skill for such and endeavor. I decided I would build the backstory, instead. That backstory became something bigger, and it formed into the novel that is now Afflicted Dawn.
Which author do you most admire and why?
J.K. Rowling. She has shown her selflessness amidst her fame and fortune, a characteristic many of us hope we would have in such a situation.
What is your favourite word?
Dragon. The word itself and the creature. It has a certain quality that gives the creature for which it is named the perfect regard.
What is it about your writing that makes it stand out?
I hope that my characters are given a life of their own. I find that characters are the true crux of any story regardless of plot, setting, or anything else.
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm working on a fantasy epic that introduces new concepts. A lot of it is still a work in progress.
