Guest Author Interview - PS Mokha

Halfway through the week and we even have a bit of sunshine - which is nice. PS Mokha joins us today for the guest author interview, you can read what she has to say below:

Please introduce yourself, who are you and what do you do?
PS Mokha, high school teacher and writer of young adult fiction.

What inspired you to start writing?
My kids. I have a ten year old with the reading comprehension of a late teen and the creative mind of a semi-genius.

What attracted you to the fantasy genre?
As a Chartered Accountant in London, I desperately needed some colour in my grey world. When my kids arrived I learnt something vital. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you have to – so now I do the best job in the world, feeding imaginations by creating incredible fantasies.

If you could write anyone's biography, whose would it be?
Hmm, good question. I list my top three (not in common sense order)

1)      Oldest dolphin in the ocean
2)      Someone really poor in Bangladesh who smiles all the time
3)      Adolf Hitler. Being of Indian origin, I would like to give him an intense grilling – just metaphorically (I think)

What do you enjoy most about writing?
Getting a tingly spine when someone says, hurry up and finish the sequel

And the least?
Self-promotion.

What advice would you give new and aspiring authors?
Become good at marketing. Crappy books with great promotion make more money than great books with crappy promotion (re: my sales quod erat demonstrandum)

What are you working on at the moment?
Book 2 in The Last Sanctuary series. I must say, I’m terribly excited by it all.

Tell us about your latest work and how we can find out more.
I won’t go into great detail here, because it’s repeated in the links below. What I will say is that the book is a traditional fantasy brought to date with modern humour and unique twists. Adults will love it, kids aged 10-16 will REALLY love it (and that’s not me being self-promoty – I’m just telling in straight!)
