Back in early November of last year I first welcomed Kathy Petrakis to the site with this guest author interview. Today she joins me again so we can catch up with what she's been up to:
What has changed in your life since we last spoke?
Since we last spoke I have published the second book in the Dancers and Divas series - Bittersweet, begun training as a director at a community theater, had a reading for my first full length play and moved back to Sydney from London!
Have you learnt any new wisdom?
I’ve learnt that self-publishing offers a lot more independence and freedom and that writing a book takes a lot of dedication, discipline and thick skin. And that you can never stop learning.
Have you become a better writer? If so, how?
It’s funny, when I first sent the draft for my second book to the editor, I thought I would be much better at it but there was still so much to do! I have definitely maintained everything I learnt the hard way with the first book but there is still plenty more to learn! Having editors and readers giving you feedback is vital, keeping the ego in check and constantly refreshing the fundamentals – I’m still in writing groups and still doing classes.
What are you working on at the moment?
I just had the first reading of my full length play – Black Rainbow which will also be a book. I’ve done a rough first draft but there’s much more to do on that! There’s a prospective third book for Dancers and Divas but it will depend on the success of the current blog tour.
Tell us about your latest release and how we can find out more.
There is currently a HUGE blog tour for Dancers and Divas. With that there are lots of giveaways and a major competition where those who buy, read and review either one of the books can WIN UP TO $1000.

To add incentive, the first book, Passion and Pain is available for $0.99 for a limited time …Love, hate, friendship and betrayal wrapped up with auditions and performances – STEP UP meets GOSSIP GIRL all in a book!
By day I'm a video game consultant, and I also volunteer at the German Shepherd Dog Welfare Fund - the charity that rescued the dog I adopted last year. I've also recently started compiling a website covering the history of the village I live, although I'm hoping to draw in some help for that project! Here is scratchpad when I need it, and a place for my personal projects. It's also an archive from back when this was was my writing blog.
