Film Review - Chronicles of Riddick

Ok, it's nowhere near as good as Pitch Black and it has a very silly story, but it's still an entertaining adventure. Although how they managed to get Judy Dench to sign up for it I don't know.

The biggest problem is that it is a different tone from Pitch Black, Riddick's character remains mostly the same, although he's less sinister in this. The other issue is the bad guys, they're just silly, more suited to a cheap fantasy film than a dark science fiction film, but they serve their purpose.

The beginning and the prison planet though do stand out as good action moments, worth watching.

So it's a bit of a mixed bag, overall entertaining, but throw away entertainment.

Vin Diesel reprises his role as night-eyed antihero Riddick in this big-budget sequel to the 2002 sci-fi action film 'Pitch Black'. In an attempt to evade the mercenaries after him, Riddick escapes to the distant planet of Helion - only to find himself caught in the middle of a violent and bloody intergalactic conflict between two opposing forces: the Elementals, led by Aerion (Judi Dench) and the Necromongers, led by the bloodthirsty Lord Marshall (Colm Feore).
