MEGA-DARK BOOK BLOG TOUR: “SHORT AND SWEET”
by Mark Carver

With e-readers continuing to surge in popularity, short stories and novellas are quite the rage these days. When my publisher approached me about writing a short story series, I was immediately enthusiastic. As fate would have it, an idea for a short story series had been taking root in my mind for a while, and now it was time to let it bloom.

The Age of Apollyon Trilogy takes place twelve years after Satan appears on earth and changes the world forever. A natural question is: what happened in those first twelve years? Introducing The Jerusalem Chronicles, an 8-volume short story series that will answer this question and more through the eyes of that lovable and lethal Christian fanatic, Tourec Beauchamp. Snippets of his past are revealed here and there in The Age of Apollyon, but this series will document his journey from a postulant in a sleepy monastery to the scourge of the Satanic Order.

The tone and style of The Jerusalem Chronicles is quite different from the novels in the trilogy. I chose to write it in first-person perspective, since this is a very personal story. We will see how and why the world changes but the center of the series is Tourec and what happens to him as his world turns upside-down. It’s almost like a journal or diary, giving us insights into Tourec’s innermost and secret thoughts. Many things that are hinted at or aluded to in The Age of Apollyon will be explained as well, and a few surprises are also in store – kind of like reverse foreshadowing.

Of course, it is essential that you read The Age of Apollyon first before you check out this series, but the good news is that you can kill two birds with one stone: the first volume of The Jerusalem Chronicles, titled “The Manifestation,” is bundled together with the paperback version of The Age of Apollyon! When Black Sun is released in paperback in just a few weeks, the second volume will be available with that book, and likewise with the third volume along with the forthcoming final book in the trilogy, Scorn, coming this Halloween. And if e-readers are your preferred format, you can get each volume in the series for less than $1.00.

So jump on board and hold on tight, because the story is far from over…
