Guest Author Interview - A Wayne Gill

The start of the week saw me providing advice to students looking to join the games industry and judging the finalists for the 48 hour game jam. It was good fun and also why I didn't post this at lunchtime. Anyway, I'm back now so let's take a look at the latest guest author interview, today we meet A Wayne Gill.

Please introduce yourself, who are you and what do you do?
I am A.Wayne Gill; I am a commercial lawyer for over 20 years now and a beginning author.

What first inspired you to start writing?
I’ve always loved writing. I have always been a story teller at heart. I entered a poetry competition at 6 years old. I wrote a poem on Martin Luther King and I won 1st prize. Also, I was an English major in college with an emphasis on creative writing so I always felt destined to write at some point in my life.

Are you a planner? Or do you like to dive straight into writing?
I am certainly a planner. I always create an outline as a roadmap for the book. With that said, I do tend to go with ideas that stray from my original outline. I find that some of my ideas that are off the cuff seem to be the most inspirational.

If you could write anyone's biography, whose would it be?
That’s a tough one. Of course, I can think of obvious figures I would love to delve into for example MLK, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, etc. but if I had to choose I would want to write my grandmother’s biography. She was a true inspiration to me from her kindness to her work ethic. She is my inspiration in all matters of faith, business and life.

What is your favorite song lyric?
“If you could read my mind love, what a tale my thoughts could tell” – Gordon Lightfoot

What do you enjoy most about writing?
Creating these multidimensional characters and writing about real world issues that affect all of us.

And the least?
The discipline. Writers must have discipline. It is true that authors need to write everyday even if what they produce is “garbage”. You have to create that mindset.

What are you working on at the moment?
Currently, I am working on book two of the Michael Knight series.

Tell us about your latest work and how we can find out more.
My latest book is The Runner. It is a legal thriller about Michael Knight, a small town preacher’s son who leaves his small town to move to New York to attend law school. He will have opportunities he could never imagine. But at what cost?
